Edoardo Mortara

Edoardo Mortara is one of Formula E’s most experienced drivers, with six race victories and a Vice-Championship to his name. Born in Geneva, he won the Formula Three Euroseries championship in 2010 and earned the nickname “Mr Macau” after taking seven wins at motorsport’s most demanding street circuit.

He went on to compete in DTM with Audi and Mercedes, securing ten victories and finishing as runner-up in 2016. Mortara joined Formula E in Season 4, reaching the podium in his second race and taking his first win in Hong Kong a year later. In Season 7, he finished just seven points shy of the title, finishing as Vice-Champion before adding four more wins in Season 8.

After joining Mahindra Racing in Season 10, he secured pole position in Berlin and helped the team to fourth in the championship in Season 11. In Season 12, he has taken back-to-back poles in Jeddah and sits second in the standings after six rounds, combining strong qualifying pace with the experience of 117 Formula E starts.

“As Formula E pushes sustainable innovations to their limit on the track, the FIA Smart Driving Challenge is bringing safer and more sustainable driving to the road. I’m excited to get started and help my SDC team become smarter drivers.”
